I Get Caught Up When The Rage In Me Subsides [OPEN]
Alkali Lake had only been a partial failure. They'd struck a blow at Stryker and retrieved Darwin, though Stryker himself had escaped. The plan for Washington was put on hold as Erik and Charles began construction on the lower levels. They needed a place to hide, they needed a secret way out and they needed somewhere to construct a new and more powerful Cerebro.
With classes underway for the students, Erik took to walking the building and the grounds. He was keeping an eye on things, though he would never actually refer to it as a 'patrol'. It was his routine.
[Feel free to catch Erik either in the building or the grounds at whatever time of day you choose. Put an OOC note at the beginning of your response so we know where we are :) ]

Ororo was standing outside, watching the sky - with more than her eyes, for the moment. She heard the quiet steps behind her and let go of her powers, turning around with a half-smile of curiosity. Erik.
"Restless?" He certain didn't look like somebody out for the leisure.

"Always," Erik replied matter-of-factly.
Was he prowling? Perhaps. Perhaps he was becoming territorial. Perhaps that came with having a piece of ground that could be called your territory.
He looked up to where her gaze had been directed before she heard him coming.
"Any... activity?"
And now, back to tagging. Ferreal.
"Luckily, there doesn't seem to be anything. We're staying safe for now."
She wasn't sure if this was the right time to ask - or if there was one - but since there didn't seem to be people around them, she might as well. "What's next? Other than classes, which are under way already."

"We're starting construction on the sublevels. We need a safe place to build Cerebro. We need a safe way out of the mansion if they come for us again."

She wanted to leave, and found herself packed and ready to go so many times in the last few weeks that she should have been. Why she hadn't was still a mystery. Even to her.
Now, she sat perched on the stone steps looking out across the east side of Xavier's property with bag between her legs.
Anywhere had to be better than here.

His tone was mild as he came to a stop in his travels at the foot of the stairs.
"Where are you going to go?"
no subject
"I don't know." she replied distantly.

And being there is a constant reminder. Even if he wasn't there anymore.
Bella nodded at his question.

He watched her for a second.
"You know the only way for us to survive now is to work together to protect each other. The humans will band against us. That world," he said, nodding away from the house, "has no place for you."
no subject
She let out a sigh, and looked at Erik.
"And what place do I have here? Asides from protecting people."
It was a genuine question. She'd spent so long trying to distance herself from people, especially that of her own family, Bella had forgotten what it even meant to belong somewhere.

He paused, then stepped closer, looking up at her.
"But what if they weren't? What if the world changed and you could go where you liked and live how you wanted without fear? That is what we're trying to accomplish here."
